Total suspension of services such as dispatch of goods occurs in protest against cuts in productivity bonuses and lack of salary adjustment
The Customs Auditors of the Port of Santos will completely stop their activities between May 12 and 16. The decision was made at the National Assembly held on May 7 and was caused by the measure announced by the government on April 30: a reduction in the value of the category's productivity bonus.
Furthermore, the government did not present a concrete proposal for the main demand – inflation-adjusted wages for the class – which led to the strike that began in November 2024 and continues to this day.
The services that will be completely suspended during this period are: clearance and dispatch of goods and customer service. The 30% of the workforce required by law for the release of perishable, live and dangerous cargo, medicines and food for consumption on board, as well as compliance with court decisions, will be maintained.
Before opting to step up the mobilization, the Tax Auditors had been using the standard operation as a way to draw the government's attention. In this modality, more cargo is inspected and with more criteria, which delays the release of goods.
For representatives of the Santos Union Office of Sindifisco Nacional (the union that represents the category), “the category is in disbelief and, above all, outraged by this measure that directly harms us. In addition to not presenting us with any proposal for a strike that has already lasted 180 days, it also announces a resolution that takes away rights won by Auditors.”
