A steel double-headed eagle with a turbine and lightning in the center of the body is the new emblem of the Ministry of Energy.

The Russian Ministry of Energy, by order dated August 21, approved the department's new coat of arms and emblem.
The double-headed eagle with crowns symbolizes the ministry's federal status, and its chrome black and gray color reflects "the entire spectrum of natural resources in Russia's subsoil," the order notes.
The documents do not specify why the coat of arms's color palette does not include the traditional blue color of gas and hydropower.
In the center of the eagle's body is a black round shield, symbolizing a turbine, crossed by a lightning bolt in the tricolor colors – a traditional symbol of energy and the development of the peoples of Russia.
In this case, it is permissible to use simply a black shield-medallion with lightning without an eagle as a small symbol of the department.
The agency's approved flag is a dark blue cloth with an image of a steel double-headed eagle with a turbine and lightning.
The dark blue color of the flag reflects the “generally recognized spectrum of energy directions.”
