Additional selection of renewable energy projects in the Far East may take place this summer – Ministry of Energy

An additional selection of renewable energy projects in the Far East to cover the expected energy deficit may take place as early as this summer. The Ministry of Energy has submitted these deadlines for consideration by the Russian government, said Andrey Maksimov, director of the department for development of electric power industry, at the Renwex forum.
“We propose that the government conduct additional selections this summer and build 1,700 MW of solar and wind literally by 2027,” he noted.
Since January 1, the Far East has joined the wholesale electricity and capacity market. At the same time, electricity consumption in this region is growing much faster than the Russian average. According to the System Operator, it is only possible to quickly cover the expected deficit by building renewable energy power plants.
