Gazprom Neft tested the first domestic equipment for repeated hydraulic fracturing

Gazprom Neft has tested the first domestic equipment for repeated multi-stage hydraulic fracturing, the company said in a statement.
This technology allows to increase well productivity more than twofold. Replication of the technology can provide the company with over 20 million tons of additional oil production, provided that it is implemented at 2.5 thousand Gazprom Neft wells throughout Russia.
Hydraulic fracturing is one of the main technologies for increasing the efficiency of production. Using fluid injected under pressure, cracks are formed in the formations, through which oil enters the well. After some time after the operation, the oil flow decreases.
Together with scientific and oilfield service partners, Gazprom Neft tested the first Russian complex for repeating hydraulic fracturing. With its help, a small-sized column was lowered into existing horizontal wells, through which a special liquid was pumped into the subsoil under pressure. The technology proved its effectiveness and allowed for targeted action on specific sections of the formation to increase oil recovery.
