The United States may offer Hungary a contract for the construction of a mini-nuclear power plant and the supply of American uranium for the Paks Nuclear Power Plant, as well as an agreement for the supply of LNG worth $600 million in exchange for the purchase of Russian oil.

According to Reuters, US President Donald Trump plans to host Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in the Oval Office today to discuss the possibility of signing a $100 million contract with American Westinghouse Electric to purchase uranium for Hungary's Paks Nuclear Power Plant, which is currently supplied by Russia.

In addition, the United States may offer Hungary a contract for the construction of 10 small modular reactors worth $20 billion. Another component of the deal could be a five-year contract for Hungary to purchase American LNG for a total of $600 million.

Viktor Orbán, for his part, wants to secure exemptions from US sanctions for Russian oil supplied to Hungary, as the country is landlocked.
