100th anniversary of Türkiye-Egypt relations

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar attended a reception held in Ankara to mark Egypt's national day. Drawing attention to the importance of diplomatic relations established between the two countries 100 years ago, Bayraktar stated that they wanted to further their cooperation, especially in the field of energy.
DIPLOMATIC MEETING AT THE NATIONAL DAY INVITATIONThe reception hosted by the Egyptian Ambassador to Ankara, Amr Elhamamy, in the embassy garden was attended by Minister Bayraktar and diplomatic representatives from many countries.
RISING GRAPH IN TRADEBayraktar, who gave a speech at the ceremony, stated that Turkish-Egyptian relations have gained momentum in recent years. Bayraktar, who stated that the trade volume between the two countries has approached 10 billion dollars, said that Turkish companies have invested over 3 billion dollars in Egypt. Bayraktar, who said that they are trying to direct Turkish investors to more sectors, also invited Egyptian entrepreneurs to evaluate the opportunities in Türkiye.
Bayraktar, who evaluated energy as one of the areas with the greatest potential in bilateral relations, stated that Türkiye and Egypt are two important actors that complement each other in terms of energy security, resource diversity and regional integration.
COOPERATION FROM RENEWABLE ENERGY TO NUCLEARBayraktar emphasized that they believe that cooperation in the field of energy will provide mutual benefit and regional stability. He stated that they want to develop new projects in many areas such as renewable energy investments, LNG trade, hydrocarbon exploration, energy infrastructure and nuclear energy.
FSRU AGREEMENT COMES TO LIFE IN SUMMER MONTHSBayraktar, who recalled the “Memorandum of Understanding in the Energy Field” signed between the two countries, also said that a Turkish floating LNG storage and regasification unit (FSRU) will operate in Egypt in the summer months within the scope of the agreement made between BOTAŞ and Egypt’s EGAS company. He noted that these collaborations will soon yield concrete results.
EMPHASIS ON CENTURY-OLD FRIENDSHIPAt the end of his speech, Bayraktar pointed to the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Türkiye and Egypt and expressed his hope that this historical friendship would continue to grow stronger and mutual cooperation would deepen even further.
