GDZ: According to initial findings, the fire was not caused by electricity

Energy Journal- GDZ Electricity Distribution Inc. made a statement to the public regarding the forest fires that continue to affect our country. The company announced that no concrete findings were found in the initial field investigations that the fires were caused by power lines.

In its statement, GDZ expressed its condolences to the families of the citizens who lost their lives in the fires and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. The company drew attention to the fact that some news reports on the forest fires claimed that the fires were caused by power lines, and emphasized that there was no definitive information on this matter.

NO ELECTRICAL FINDINGS

“According to the first assessments made in the field, there is no concrete evidence that the fires in our region started from power lines,” the GDZ statement said.

It was also stated that electrical fires do not only occur in the summer months, and that high temperatures, low humidity and strong winds increase the risk of forest fires during the summer. It was also stated that this situation has started to be seen more frequently in the countries in the Mediterranean belt and in Türkiye in recent years due to the impact of climate change.

GDZ Electricity Distribution announced that they are closely following the process in the region and working in cooperation with the relevant institutions, and made the following statements: “As the electricity distribution infrastructure operator of the region, we are closely following the process and continuing our work in the field in full cooperation with the relevant institutions. In the GDZ statement, the message was also given that they will continue to be in the field with all their means to prevent forest fires and minimize their damage.
