Istanbul Energy Launches Green Transformation on the Princes' Islands

Istanbul Energy, a subsidiary of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), which leads environmentally friendly projects with a sustainability vision, has signed a significant collaboration with the Adalar Municipality for the green transformation of the Princes' Islands. As part of the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (SECAP), projects will be implemented in the district to increase energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, and set an example in the fight against climate change.

Under the protocol signed between Istanbul Energy and the Adalar Municipality, practices that encourage energy conservation, the use of renewable energy sources, and projects aimed at raising environmental awareness will be developed. The district's existing energy infrastructure will be reviewed and modernized, and steps will be taken to reduce carbon emissions with innovative solutions. The projects will be designed to strengthen social participation, with the aim of ensuring that the resulting gains benefit Istanbul as a whole. The signing ceremony, held in this context, was held with the participation of Istanbul Energy General Manager Dr. Yüksel Yalçın and Adalar Mayor Ali Ercan Akpolat. The ceremony emphasized the goals of this collaboration, which supports sustainable development, to reduce environmental impact and modernize the energy infrastructure.

In his speech at the ceremony, Dr. Yüksel Yalçın, General Manager of Istanbul Energy, said , “As Istanbul Energy, we continue to work to build sustainable cities. With this collaboration, we aim to increase energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, and play an active role in combating climate change. This project we are implementing on the Princes' Islands is not only a regional transformation but also a significant milestone for the environmental transformation of Istanbul as a whole.”

Adalar Mayor Ali Ercan Akpolat stated, “As the Adalar Municipality and Istanbul Energy Inc. families, we have signed the SECAP – Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan Protocol. This step, taken to protect the natural and cultural heritage of the Islands from the impacts of the climate crisis, aims to make the Islands cleaner, greener, and more livable through renewable energy, energy efficiency, and nature-based solutions. As part of this protocol, we will organize workshops to determine our sustainable goals for the future.”

With this project, Istanbul Energy aims to set a strong example for sustainable development and make a difference both locally and globally with its environmentally friendly energy solutions. The green transformation initiated on the Princes' Islands will be a significant step toward building a more livable future.
