Sakarya Electricity Distribution Inc. (SEDAŞ), which continuously improves its service quality through investments in technical infrastructure, purchased five high-tech underground cable testing devices to increase efficiency in field operations and accelerate fault response processes.SEDAŞ, which provides electricity distribution services to approximately 4 million people in the provinces of Sakarya, Kocaeli, Bolu, and Düzce, continues its investments to increase the efficiency of its field teams. The new-generation portable devices purchased as part of this initiative enable rapid and precise detection of underground cable faults, minimizing power outages.
The purchased devices are capable of delivering a test voltage at 12 kV. These devices can pinpoint faulty underground cables from ground level, significantly shortening the response time by determining the approximate distance and exact location of the damage. The new test devices incorporate TDR (Time Domain Reflectometry) and ARM (Arc Reflectance Method) technologies. These two methods enable highly accurate results for various types of faults and allow for precise location of the intervention point. Weighing approximately 30 kilograms, the devices can operate on both battery and AC power, allowing teams to conduct uninterrupted testing in the field.
SEDAŞ provided a full-day of theoretical and practical training to its 50-person field team on the effective use of the devices. The training aimed to increase the teams' mastery of the devices, reduce the margin of error in the field, and increase the speed of response.
Thanks to these invested high-tech equipment, faults will be addressed more quickly, strengthening energy supply security, operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and continuity of electricity service.
