TPAO's Kırklareli license has been extended for two years.

Energy Diary - The term of the oil exploration license of the Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) in Kırklareli has been extended for another two years based on the natural gas discovery made in the field.
The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources' General Directorate of Mining and Petroleum Affairs (MAPEG) granted TPAO an extension for its land license, sheet number AR/TPO/K/E18-c4, within the Kırklareli province, in a decision dated September 3, 2025. The company had applied for an extension on June 13, 2025, for the license, which was set to expire on August 7, 2025.
EXTENDED EXPLORATION TIME
MAPEG's decision stated that TPAO had discovered natural gas within the licensed area and therefore requested an extension pursuant to the relevant article of Turkish Petroleum Law No. 6491. Upon examination, it was determined that the request was in compliance with the provisions of the Law and the Regulation.
COMMERCIAL EVALUATION WILL BE MADE
The purpose of the extension was announced as enabling commercial evaluation of the area where natural gas was discovered, facilitating the field's development, and unlocking the region's hydrocarbon potential and contributing to the national economy. The license, covering 12,534 hectares, has been extended for an additional two years, from August 7, 2025, to August 7, 2027.
