Turkish Deputy Energy Minister Çonkar: “The energy potential with Iraq is higher than in the past.”

Turkish Deputy Energy Minister Ahmet Berat Çonkar stated that the energy potential with Iraq is much higher than in past cooperation and that they are closely following the re-transportation of oil from the Kirkuk-Ceyhan Pipeline with Iraq.
Deputy Minister Çonkar attended the "International Baghdad Energy Form" held in Baghdad.
Speaking to an AA reporter after his speech at the forum, Çonkar evaluated the energy relations between Iraq and Türkiye.
Çonkar stated that Türkiye has an important relationship with Iraq in the field of energy, and said:
Our Kirkuk-Ceyhan Oil Pipeline, in particular, has been operating since the 1970s. Recently, the resumption of oil flow has been on the agenda. We are closely following this agenda with Iraq, and they are informing us that negotiations with international oil companies, the regional government, and the central government are nearing completion. Hopefully, once these issues are resolved, we expect this pipeline to be used at its maximum capacity.
Çonkar noted that the Iraq-Turkey pipeline could be developed from a different perspective, adding that Turkey-Iraq energy relations are being planned as natural gas, electricity, and the Development Road Project is also being designed as an energy route, and that they are negotiating with Iraq to develop energy relations from a much broader perspective.
“The energy potential with Iraq is much higher than in past cooperation,” said Çonkar, adding that they are working to establish the infrastructure for this.
Çonkar stated, "Our goal is for energy cooperation to open the door to stability and prosperity in our region, enabling us to look to the future with greater confidence. In this sense, we are striving to take both the energy transformation and our long-standing relations with Iraq to a new phase."
