Neptun Deep onshore works progress with Tuzla microtunnel

Onshore works for Neptun Deep are advancing according to the project owners, Romgaz and OMV Petrom, who recently shared a video showcasing the progress.
At Tuzla, which is the gas gateway from the Neptun Deep perimeter, an 890-meter-long microtunnel is being constructed, through which the transmission pipeline will cross under the Romanian Black Sea coast.
Romania’s first deepwater offshore developmentNeptun Deep is the largest natural gas project in the Romanian Black Sea and Romania’s first deepwater offshore development. It spans roughly 7,500 square kilometres, located about 160 kilometres from the coast, with water depths ranging from 100 to 1,000 metres.
The estimated recoverable reserves at Neptun Deep are around 100 billion cubic meters—enough to supply the equivalent of 30 times the current annual demand of 4.3 million households. Production is expected to begin around 2027, with peak annual output projected at approximately 8 billion cubic meters.

Drilling of the first well in the Pelican South gas field began in March, and ANRE, Romania’s national energy regulator, granted the permit for the construction of the upstream transmission pipelines in July.
In this interview, Franck Neel, Member of the Executive Board at OMV Petrom, described the project as a “game-changer” for Romania and the surrounding region.
