BR-364 restoration works in Acre are authorized

The investment will be R$870.9 million, with execution being carried out by Dnit
The Federal Government authorized on Friday (8) the start of recovery and maintenance works on four sections of BR-364, in Acre. It is estimated that the interventions, which total 286.7 kilometers in length and pass through 12 municipalities, will benefit around 500 thousand people, more than half of the state's population.
The investment will be R$870.9 million, with execution by the National Department of Transportation Infrastructure (DNIT). The project is expected to create 12,500 direct and indirect jobs. The service orders were signed at a ceremony held in Rio Branco, attended by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (Workers' Party) and Transportation Minister Renan Filho.
"I did what was necessary so that we could consider a process of integrating Acre with the rest of Brazil and Brazil with the rest of the world. It's a matter of caring about those who live in the state. And those who live in the state are Brazilians who need to be treated with respect," stated President Lula.
With a fleet of over 367,000 vehicles and a geographic location that poses logistical challenges, Acre relies on BR-364 as its main route connecting the interior and the capital. The highway is crucial for the flow of agro-extractive products, the transportation of inputs, and access to essential public services such as healthcare and education.
"Under the previous Federal Government administration, investments in BR-364 were abandoned. Abandonment, in this case, means potholes, transportation difficulties, and a mother who needs to take her child to the doctor has to waste hours on the road with no road conditions. But after many years of insufficient resources, we will build a road that can move the people of Acre forward," said Renan Filho.
The ceremony was also attended by the governor of Acre, Gladson Cameli (PP).
According to Dnit, the works will begin immediately.
