Government celebrates results of the first year of the new debenture rules

Simplified debentures

The Federal Government celebrates the results of the first year of the new infrastructure debenture rules. Since the rules were changed and prior authorization for debenture issuance was waived, which occurred in August of last year, in the port and airport sectors alone, the volume of investments using this financing strategy reached R$3.33 billion, according to data from the Ministry of Ports and Airports. In total, 11 projects were implemented in the states of Bahia, Maranhão, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Santa Catarina, and São Paulo.

Projects

Among these 11 projects financed by debentures last year, two involve airport expansions. The others are related to the port sector, such as construction and expansion of terminal capacity, expansion and adaptation of warehouses, equipment purchases, construction work, and payment of concession fees.

From six months to five days

The Minister of Ports and Airports, Sílvio Costa Filho, highlighted the benefits of the rule change. "Since we enacted our ordinance, the process has become more streamlined, facilitating the submission of projects by companies seeking to invest in the sector through debentures. What previously took six months for approval now takes only five days," he said.

Third track

The São Paulo State Environmental Council (Consema) will hold two public hearings to discuss the Environmental Impact Study and Environmental Impact Report (EIA/RIMA) for the third lane of the Imigrantes Highway, the new highway link between Greater São Paulo and the Port of Santos, São Paulo, which is being designed and implemented by Ecovias dos Imigrantes. The first hearing will take place on September 17th, at 5 pm, at the Cacilda Becker Theater in São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo.

In Cubatão

The second public hearing on the third lane of the Imigrantes Highway was scheduled for the day after the first, September 18, also at 5 p.m., in the Auditorium of the José Edgard da Silva Cultural Block, in the City Hall of Cubatão, São Paulo. Both sessions will be broadcast on the YouTube channel of the São Paulo State Secretariat of Environment, Infrastructure and Logistics (Semil), at youtube.com/@semilsp.
