236 people died in floods in Nigeria this year

236 people lost their lives in floods in Nigeria in 2025.
Nigeria's National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said in a statement that heavy rains this year have caused floods in 25 states of the country, as well as the capital Abuja.
The statement noted that 236 people lost their lives in the floods, 826 people were injured and 115 people were missing.
It was reported that 409,714 people were affected by the floods, 118,118 of whom were children, 125,307 were women and 2,418 were disabled.
The statement shared information that thousands of people were displaced in 117 regions of the country due to floods, 47,708 houses were damaged and 62,653 agricultural lands were destroyed.
