2,736 hectares of land were damaged in the forest fires in Kastamonu.

The total number of hectares destroyed in two forest fires that broke out on the Kastamonu - Karabük border has been determined. According to a statement by the Kastamonu Governor's Office, 2,736 hectares were damaged in the fires.
In a statement made by the Kastamonu Governor's Office, it was stated that the forest fire, which started on August 31st on the border of Karabük's Eflani district, spread to the forested area in Kastamonu's Araç district on September 1st, and that a fire also broke out in the Karasu Neighborhood of Akgeçit village around the same time.
The statement, which announced that a total of 2,736 hectares of land was damaged, said, "The fire was responded to with 17 helicopters, 1 tanker aircraft, 26 first response vehicles, 30 water trucks, 21 water tankers, 8 TOMA (riot control vehicles), 28 service vehicles, 11 bulldozers, 6 trailers, 1 grader, 4 pioneer vehicles, 2 trucks, 1 fuel tanker, 5 ambulances, 1 rescue vehicle, 1 communication vehicle, 60 pickups, 2 motor pumps, and 594 personnel. A total of 100 personnel took part in security and traffic measures."
The statement continued as follows:
"During the fire, 594 citizens and 1,046 head of cattle/small cattle residing in 7 villages and 1 neighborhood, namely Güzelce, Kızılören, Ahatlar, İhsanlı, Akgeçit, Şiringüney, Oycalı and Karacalar, were evacuated as a precaution. Of the 85 citizens who were evacuated and requested shelter, 35 were placed in the İğdir Quran Course building, 37 in the Hacı İbrahim Subaşı Imam Hatip hostel, and 13 in the Araç Imam Hatip Secondary School hostel. Our evacuated citizens were able to return to their homes after the fire was extinguished. The fire affected a total of 2,736 hectares within the borders of Kastamonu, including 2,078 hectares of forest and 658 hectares of agricultural land. Damage assessment studies were carried out by the Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change as of September 2, 2025, and it was determined that there were severely damaged buildings in Güzelce village. One house, one destroyed hayloft, and one barn have been identified. The payment to compensate the loss of our citizen whose house was damaged in the fire has been deposited into his account as of today. We extend our gratitude to our Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Mr. İbrahim Yumaklı, who supported us during our firefighting efforts.
