Business World Representatives Visited Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant Site

Leading businesspeople from Mersin visited the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), Turkey's first nuclear power plant. The site was discussed in detail, along with the plant's construction process, environmental impacts, and safety measures.
The delegation visited the reactor building , the fully installed turbine installation , and the world's largest crawler mobile crane at the Rosatom -built Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant's first power unit, inspecting the reactor building on-site. They also visited the Vostochny Marine Cargo Terminal , a modern desalination plant , coastal structures, and the Training and Exercise Center, where operational personnel are trained.

At a presentation on the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant project, businesspeople learned about the safety protocols implemented at the site and the regular environmental monitoring activities . Investors in the region emphasized the project's contributions to both the local economy and international recognition.
Sergei Butckikh, General Manager of AKKUYU NUCLEAR INC. , stated that the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant site has now become a part of industrial tourism , saying, "We are introducing our guests to the region's history, nature, and industry. Our collaboration with local entrepreneurs is strengthening Mersin's national and international promotion ."
İlhan Ulu, who operates in the hotel industry in Mersin, expressed his satisfaction by saying, "It was very important for us to see the impact of a project of this magnitude on the region. We received comprehensive information regarding environmental safety , infrastructure, and the plant's requirements."
Dairy products factory manager İsmail Hakkı Köroğlu stated that foreign experts working in the region have turned the demand for different food products into an opportunity: “This has opened up a new market for us and has also strengthened cultural integration between peoples.”
The Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant , consisting of four units with a capacity of 1,200 MW, is equipped with Russian-designed Generation 3+ VVER reactors . The project is the world's first nuclear power plant to be implemented under the Build-Own-Operate model . Rosatom continues to expand its technical cooperation with energy projects in various countries.
