LNG agreements with 8 different companies for a three-year period

Energy Diary - Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar continued his contacts at Gastech 2025, held this year in Milan and considered one of the world's largest energy summits. Minister Bayraktar met with senior executives and decision-makers from participating companies and also attended agreements signed by Türkiye's national company, BOTAŞ.
FIRST CONTACT WITH THE US MINISTER
Bayraktar met for the first time with US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright, who took office this year. Minister Bayraktar stated that they discussed the existing cooperation between Turkey and the US on oil and natural gas exploration and production, LNG trade, nuclear energy, and critical minerals, as well as new opportunities in these areas. Bayraktar said, "We believe that Turkey-US energy relations will be further strengthened on the basis of a shared vision and mutual trust."
MEETING WITH COMPANY EXECUTIVES
Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar held meetings with executives from the Italian electricity and natural gas distribution company Edison, ConocoPhillips, a major US player in hydrocarbon exploration and production, and the US oil and natural gas company Chevron.
183 KM LINE UNDER THE SEA
During his meetings, an agreement was also signed between Italy's Saipem and TP-OTC, the Turkish Petroleum Corporation's offshore operations company, for the construction of a 183-kilometer deepwater main production pipeline to transport natural gas produced in Phase 3 of the Sakarya Gas Field to land. Minister Bayraktar met with Saipem CEO Alessandro Puliti and discussed technical plans for the development of Phase 3 of the Sakarya Gas Field.
MULTI-SOURCED, FLEXIBLE AND SECURE
As part of Gastech 2025, five separate agreements were signed between BOTAŞ and suppliers from various countries. Accordingly, British energy company Hartree will deliver a total of 600 million cubic meters of LNG over two years. Another agreement will see Cheniere, one of the largest LNG producers in the US, ship a total of 1.2 billion cubic meters of LNG cargo to BOTAŞ over the course of a year.
SUSTAINABLE STRONG STRUCTURE
A three-year LNG agreement was signed between BOTAŞ and SEFE, one of Germany's leading natural gas companies, at Gastech 2025. Accordingly, BOTAŞ will supply a total of 1.8 billion cubic meters of gas from SEFE.
REGIONAL COMMERCIAL OPPORTUNITIES
During Gastech, BOTAŞ signed a one-year contract with JERA, Japan's largest energy production company. Under the agreement, JERA will supply a total of 600 million cubic meters of natural gas to Türkiye.
FOR PREDICTABLE MARKETS
The final piece of the series of agreements in Milan was the contract signed with Norwegian energy company Equinor. It stipulated that Equinor would supply a total of 1.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas to BOTAŞ over three years.
15 BILLION M3 IN 3 YEARS
Türkiye's national company, BOTAŞ, yesterday signed an agreement with energy giants BP, ENI, and Shell for a total of 8.7 billion cubic meters of LNG. With the addition of the five agreements signed today, Turkey has committed to supplying approximately 15 billion cubic meters of gas between 2026 and 2028. LNG shipments under the agreements will begin in the winter months.
