Minister Bayraktar met with US Energy Secretary Wright

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar met with US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright in Milan, Italy.
Bayraktar shared information about the meetings he held within the scope of the Gastech 2025 Forum on his NSosyal account.
Bayraktar, noting that this was his first meeting with Wright, who took office this year, said, "We discussed the existing cooperation between Turkey and the US on oil and natural gas exploration and production, LNG trade, nuclear energy, and critical minerals, as well as new opportunities in these areas. We believe that Turkey-US energy relations will be further strengthened on the basis of a shared vision and mutual trust, in line with the goals set by our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and US President, Mr. Donald Trump."
Agreement between BOTAŞ, Norwegian energy company Equinor and Japanese energy company JERA
In another post, Minister Bayraktar noted that BOTAŞ and Norwegian energy company Equinor signed a supply agreement spanning three years and covering a total supply of 1.5 billion cubic meters of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Bayraktar stated that this agreement will strengthen medium-term predictability in Türkiye's LNG portfolio, emphasizing their belief that it will make significant contributions to resource diversity and supply security policies.
Bayraktar also noted that they signed an agreement for the supply of 600 million cubic meters of LNG between BOTAŞ and JERA, one of Japan's leading energy companies, as part of Gastech 2025. He added, "I hope this agreement, which will also allow for the mutual evaluation of regional commercial opportunities, will be beneficial for our country and companies."
“LNG shipments subject to agreements will begin in the winter months.”
On the other hand, in a written statement made by the Ministry, it was reported that Minister Bayraktar held meetings with the executives of the Italian electricity and natural gas distribution company Edison, ConocoPhillips, one of the major players operating in the US hydrocarbon exploration and production field, and the US oil and natural gas company Chevron.
The statement, which reminded that Türkiye's national company, BOTAŞ, reached an agreement yesterday with energy market giants BP, ENI, and Shell for a total of 8.7 billion cubic meters of LNG, included the following: "With the five agreements signed today, Turkey has committed to a total gas supply of approximately 15 billion cubic meters between 2026 and 2028. LNG shipments subject to the agreements will begin in the winter months."
