Disturbing news from the energy market: consumption is clearly falling

In August 2025, domestic energy consumption amounted to 12.7 TWh, compared to 13.3 TWh in August 2024 – a decrease of 4.61%.
In turn, from January to the end of August 2025, domestic energy consumption amounted to 109.4 TWh, compared to 112.2 TWh in the same period of 2024 – a decrease of 2.52%.
Poor results are also coming from the production sector: in August alone it fell by 8.42% compared to August 2024 (12.2 TWh against 13.4 TWh).

In the first eight months of 2025, energy production in Poland amounted to 109.77 TWh, compared to 109.76 TWh in the same period of 2024 – an increase of only 0.01%.
In Poland, hard coal-fired power plants remain the largest source of energy. In the first eight months, hard coal-fired power plants produced 43.4 TWh of energy, compared to 44.7 TWh a year earlier – a 2.92 percent drop.
Energy production from lignite decreased by 4.69% – from 23.6 TWh in the first eight months of 2024 to the same period in 2025.
Energy production from gas increased significantly, by 16.2 percent – from 10.0 TWh to 11.6 TWh.
Production in onshore wind farms in the first eight months of 2025 amounted to 15.0 TWh, compared to 15.2 TWh in 2024 – a decrease of 1.59%.
