Port Guard conducts training against bomb threats in Concais

Activity simulated a real sweeping situation to find explosive devices in the port area
The Port Authority of Santos held an intensive course on Bomb Threat Management last Wednesday, July 2, to ensure the safety of the largest port complex in the country. Given by the Brazilian Association for the Prevention and Response to Port Emergencies (Abrapam), the course included theoretical training in the morning and a practical simulation in the afternoon at the cruise passenger terminal of the Port of Santos, Concais.
According to the Port Authority of Santos (APS), the training brought together more than one hundred participants, including state and municipal security forces, representatives of the Navy, the City Halls of Baixada Santista, the Port's consenting authorities and several terminals that operate cargo in the complex.

Rafael Gonçalves, supervisor of the Santos Port Guard, explained that the objective of the training is to train as many actors as possible to identify, react and manage risk situations within the port area.
“The integration between the Port Guard and other agents is essential to mitigate and combat threats to life and to the fluidity and safety of operations in the country’s main logistics corridor,” he stated.
The practical class simulated a real-life situation involving a search for explosive devices, including evacuation, isolation, roadblocks and approaching suspects. The theoretical module, which took place at the APS Training Center, covered explosive devices, safety protocols, risk assessment and international best practices for responding to critical events in sensitive areas.
“Trainings like this are essential for integrating public and private security teams, ensuring a coordinated and efficient response to real threats,” commented Erasmo Gomes, director of Abrapam and instructor responsible for the training.
