Port of Santos renews discounts on sustainable vessel rates

Efficiency and sustainability indicators and number of passengers are the criteria
The APS renewed tariff discounts at the Port of Santos for cruise ships and port operators that achieve a good score on the Port Efficiency and Sustainability Index (IESP), which assesses contractual and operational regularity, as well as sustainability aspects of operations at the Port of Santos. Official decrees to this effect were published on October 8th.
Ordinance No. 161.2025 provides tariff discounts based on efficiency and sustainability indicators. "It's a way to encourage shipowners who adopt good practices," said APS President Anderson Pomini, noting that both discounts provided for in the ordinances will come into effect starting October 17, when the current discount ordinances expire.
Ordinance No. 162.2025 establishes criteria for tariff discounts applicable to cruise ships in the Port of Santos. The discount, related to the number of passengers per shipowner during the season, applies to Item 4 of Table III – Operational or Land Infrastructure. The tariff discount ranges from 10% to 60%, depending on the number of passengers, with the maximum benefit applied to shipowners carrying over 700,000 passengers.
The discount will be applied provisionally based on forecasts provided by shipping companies and adjusted at the end of the season based on actual data from the APS's Supervia Data system. The ordinance establishes that shipping companies must inform the APS in advance of the estimated number of passengers and details of port calls.
