Santa Catarina government authorizes R$18.6 million for works at regional airports

The amount will be transferred to the terminals located in the municipalities of São Miguel do Oeste, Xanxerê, Videira and Concórdia
The Santa Catarina Department of Ports, Airports and Railways has authorized R$18.6 million in investments for modernization and construction at regional airports in the state. Four terminals in the following municipalities were included: São Miguel do Oeste, Xanxerê, Videira, and Concórdia.
The largest contribution will be made to Hélio Wasum Airport in São Miguel do Oeste. Of the total R$8.3 million, R$7.5 million will come from the State Government, and the City Hall will match the R$843,000 contribution. As announced by SPAF, the investments will be used to revitalize the runway, expand the parking lot and aircraft maneuvering area, and adapt the runway strip. The airport has a 1,260-meter-long, 18-meter-wide runway and serves executive aviation as well as emergency safety and health flights.
Ângelo Pozoni Airport in Videira received the second largest investment, totaling R$4.7 million. The terminal will undergo repaving of the runway, application of new asphalt (reprofiling), and installation of horizontal signage, including the taxiway and arrival and departure apron. Additionally, the project includes the approval of the PAPI system, which stands for Precision Approach Trajectory Indicator.
Olavo Cecco Rigon Airport in Concórdia will receive R$3.6 million in investments. The work will include milling and resurfacing the runway.
Finally, João Winckler Airport, located in Xanxerê, received authorization under a R$2 million agreement. The proposed works include the construction of a new passenger terminal and a new fence around the area. With the new passenger terminal, the airport now has better infrastructure to control the entry and exit of passengers during boarding and disembarking operations. R$1.16 million will be invested in the future project. The new fence is necessary to comply with security measures established by the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC). The investment will total R$875,000.
