Street lights turn into charging stations

Voltpost, a New York-based company that offers an innovative charging solution for electric vehicles, has launched the first commercial streetlight-integrated charging station in Detroit, USA.
Voltpost 's system can be installed on a street lamppost in just one hour. The 7.6 kW system offers a range of approximately 45 kilometers after a one-hour charge.
The stations, which come with a 6-meter charging cable, internal lighting, and an automatic cable retractor, can be equipped with 1-4 charging sockets. They can also operate in temperatures between -40 and 55 degrees Celsius.
Voltpost's solution aims to quickly and cost-effectively install electric vehicle charging stations using existing urban infrastructure, providing day and night charging without taking up sidewalk space.
Pilot projects have been implemented
Voltpost has been running pilot projects across Detroit and Michigan, installing integrated charging stations on lampposts. For example, with a $100,000 grant from the Michigan Mobility Funding Platform, Voltpost deployed 10 chargers in the Detroit metro area and throughout Michigan. Voltpost also has a demo unit at Newlab at Central Michigan and plans to partner with AT&T in Detroit to provide internet connectivity to the charging stations. However, these stations were installed as part of the pilot project and are not Voltpost's first commercial charging station.
